History wise Washington and his army spent a lot of time in this time during the American Revolutionary War and there are a number of historical sites that reflect this. Many campsites are close to the nature parks, which make perfect bases for family camping in New Jersey. If you like hiking, then the Appalachian Trail runs through the state.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation has nine tour guides available for cyclists and there are five bird reserves for ornithological enthusiasts. Attraction wise there are eleven lighthouses that are open to the public, three water parks and a number of wine tours. Other attractions include the invention factories at Thomas Edison’s laboratory and library, American Indian Heritage Museum, and the Battleship New Jersey Memorial and Museum. The Greater Atlantic City Region has the world’s most famous four-mile boardwalk and a glittering nightlife. In the Delaware River Region, you can visit the nation’s most decorated battleship, the Battleship New Jersey and the underground railroad.
