Camping Equipment – Tents Are Tops
from:If you decide that you’re going camping then the first thing to recognize is that the most important items of camping equipment, tents, are what you should be looking for first. Many businesses are now caught up in the internet enabling them to offer you, the camper, the widest range of choices possible. You will find that you need all kinds of camping equipment, tents however (unless you have an rv) are an essential part of almost everyone’s camping trip.
A growing number of people are taking to camping like ducks to water. Many of them also enjoy hiking and will hike from site to site across the countryside during their vacation. Hikers and backpackers will probably need less camping equipment. Tents need to be as lightweight as possible for backpackers as they will be carrying them wherever they go.
Depending on the time of year that you go camping, and also the terrain and weather conditions of the area that you choose, you will probably have different requirements for a tent. When you draw up your list of camping equipment tents may be a bit of an unknown quantity to start with. First of all you need to think about the size of tent that you may want. This doesn’t just depend on the number of people – you need to remember that although tents are sold that way some people are a lot bigger than others and therefore need more room. You also need to think about where to store your gear. If you are traveling by car this is not so much of a problem because it gives you some extra storage space.
No matter what you think you may want in camping equipment, tents will be the single biggest expense that you will face. Buy the best you can afford and it will last you a long time if you look after it. Find out whether the tent you are buying will withstand heavy weather if you think you might run into some bad weather conditions. Four seasons tents are generally thought to be the best at withstanding things like heavy winds and heavy snow fall – anything lighter might collapse under the strain. Finally when you go to buy your camping equipment tents should be thoroughly examined and zips and openings tested before you buy. Make sure that the zippers run smoothly and check out just exactly what kind of material your tent is made from. Try to find one that doesn’t need too much in the way of guy ropes and tent pegs as these can be a real nuisance to erect.
