Camping Equipment Check
from:You will have a much more relaxed and enjoyable camping holiday if you are organized well in advance and that means a sound camping equipment check. Whether you are going for a week end or a fortnight it is best to determine where you want to go and check where the camp sites are. It is a good idea to call ahead and make sure that there will be a space for you especially if the period includes a national holiday. Make sure that you have some knowledge of the area in which youll be staying before you set off. If you plan on taking the family dog check whether thats allowed early on if it isnt then you may need to find a kennels.
When people talk about camping equipment they usually mean most or all of the following as basic equipment:
* Tent
* Ground sheet
* Tent poles
* Tent pegs
* Sleeping bags
* Camping stove and kettle
* Blankets it gets cold at night
* A large torch
* Portable lamp
* Portable toilet
* Pots, pans and cutlery
* Insect spray
* Water carrier you dont want to be trekking for this every five minutes
You can probably think of other camping equipment that you would regard as essential, especially if youre a seasoned camper. People often forget the silliest things and it is a good idea to make your lists well in advance. Check your camping equipment and make sure that everything is in good order theres nothing worse than putting your tent up and finding a nasty split in the top.
Many campsites will have a camp shop for daily necessities and some may even stock some pieces of camping equipment but dont rely on it. Make sure that you have tea/coffee, coke and dried milk. The first thing you will want once youve arrived and put up the tent is something to drink. Take some cookies and potato chips for late night munching.
If this is a family holiday then dont go without some books and games to keep the kids amused. You might also want to add aspirins, bandage and antiseptic cream to your camping equipment list. Whatever you do dont go without matches and paraffin (if thats what you use) to light the stove. Always take some insect repellent and sun cream, even if it isnt summer youll be spending more time in the outdoors. Make sure that you have towels, soap and toothpaste before you make your final camping equipment check and have a great, stress free holiday.
